TEAM HORRY

SOUTH CAROLINA STATE FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION STATE CHAMPS: Assistant Chief Scott Thompson, and Battalion Chief Matthew Smith, Chief Tandem 07-20-07. TEAM HORRY went on to take 2nd in the relay, 2nd in the challenge, 2nd in the individual, 2nd in the Co-ed Tandem and first in the Open Tandem. What a way to finish the year. A top ten finish at the U.S. Nationals and a top ten finish in the relay finals at the World Firefighter Championships. As well obtaining the South Carolina record for both Relay and Individual Male.

U.S. NATIONALS, USLA 5TH PLACE TEAM

* Along with the FFCC competitions, you may find TEAM HORRY members competing in other sports. Timothy Rainbolt, David Howell and Michael Medeiros representing Horry County in the United States Lifesaving Association U.S. National Lifeguard Championships. All members medaled with Timothy taking the 1st place in the Surf Swim, Dave and Mike took the 5th place medal in the 4 man Rescue Race. "Not bad for a bunch of fire tamers".

GIVING BACK

During the World Firefighter Championships Horry County Fire S.C. and Winston Salem FD N.C. took the time out of an already busy schedule to visit the children of the Sunrise Childrens Hospital.This would make the 3rd visit by these fire departments. Prior to their visit, the hospital advised the fire departments that the children have not had visitors from a fire department since their opening. The children are given coloring books, crayons, stuffed toys and some even asked to take pictures with their hero's. Nothing is better than the smile of a child, giving back to the community is a great feeling.
