Michael Medeiros

With 12 years in the fire service, 18 years personal training, 8 years coaching wrestling programs, and competing in sports for over 2 decades, Mike has gotten to see many different approaches to fitness.

He started with competing in wrestling back in the 80's. After 8 regional championships, 3 state championships in Ontario,  ranked # 2 in Canada, and 1st in Michigan, you can say at that point that he was set up for the coaching scene. Coaching for 5 years in Canada with winning programs and 3 in South Carolina, he moved onto the firefighter competition circuit.

Back in 2001 he tried the FireFighter Combat Challenge for the first time. His first time out was not pretty with a finishing time of 2:38. He had been running in 5-10 k runs, and strength training, but did not expect to find that the FFCC was as tough as it states. In 2002, TEAM HORRY was created and that year he shed 15 seconds off his run and sharing in a 1st place for South Carolina. Since then every year has seen alittle bit more time shed. Just didn't seem fast enough. With Sports Doctors on board, he now had a coach to help with training. This season he has taken one Regional Tandem Championship, and a top ten. His best time was placed in South Carolina with a 1:48, 2 seconds slower than his best showing there.

The rest of the 2007 season has more to come. Mike unfortunately can't keep from being injured or ill.  He hope's to break into the sub-100's like many of his fellow brothers. He has learned alot from all the talent that you see on the Scott FFCC tour. Thanks go out to many!
